Silverback gorillas have a very similar nervous system to humans.
They contain a central nervous system which contains a brain, spinal cord and vertebrae. The vertebrae protects the spinal cord and it's very important for the gorrilas survival.
Special senses for survival:
Hearing: Since visibility is restricted by dense vegetation, hearing is important for gorillas to find one another and to detect danger. Gorillas seem to respond to unusual noises that are not a part of their normal activity.
Eyesight: During the daytime herbivores have color vision, a useful adaptation for finding ripening fruits in treetops.
Smelling: Gorillas have a good sense of smell and are able to detect strong odors in the environment such as human sweat or the musk of an unknown gorilla.
